Resize Images to Exact Pixel Dimensions
An image size converter needs a rule for mismatched proportions. Keep ratio lets one dimension follow automatically, Exact size may stretch the picture, and Crop to fill trims the edges. Choose the mode before you change image size so the subject keeps the shape you expect.
For the photos of people, almost always better to crop rather than stretch the figure
Nobody looks good stretched
The bulk image resizer can change dimensions and output format in one pass. Use Keep ratio to resize image without losing quality through distortion, or Crop to fill when every result must have the same width and height.
How to Use the Image Resizer Tool
JPG, PNG and WEBP, one or many.
Fill width only and the height follows automatically at the original proportions. Fill both for an exact size.
Keep ratio never distorts. Crop to fill gives exactly your dimensions by trimming the edges — the right choice for square profile pictures from rectangular photos.
Each resized image downloads with its new dimensions shown.
Aspect ratio, stretching and cropping — the choice that decides how it looks
Each image has a specific ratio of its width to its height, and the moment you want your target dimensions to have a different ratio, you have to make a choice: you can either keep the original image's ratio and let the other dimension fall where it may, or you can force the image into your target dimensions at the cost of its integrity, or you can keep the original image's ratio and crop the parts that don't fit your target dimensions. This tool specifically allows you to do all three, instead of making that choice for you, because it's all context.
The honest part
For the photos of people, almost always better to crop rather than stretch the figure. Nobody looks good stretched. For diagrams or on-screen shots where every detail is critical keep the ratio and don't mind the extra white space around. For logos or icons that will go into a fixed box crop to fill the square target.

The Image Resizer in Real Student Life
Resize image pixels precisely
Enter a width, a height or both. The image resizer calculates the missing dimension in Keep ratio mode, while Exact size and Crop to fill produce the requested pixel box.
This makes it easy to resize image pixels for a portal, profile, slide or product listing.
Photo resizer for profiles and passports
Use Crop to fill to resize photo content into a square without stretching faces. A passport photo resize may require exact dimensions, so check the authority or application form before downloading.
The same photo resizer tool works for profile pictures, application photos and thumbnails.
Resize JPG or resize PNG
Choose Keep original to resize JPG, PNG or WEBP without changing the file type. Select another format when the destination also requires a different extension.
When you resize PNG files with transparency, keep PNG output so the background remains transparent.
Bulk photo resizer for repeated sizes
Add several files and the bulk photo resizer applies the same dimensions, fit mode and format to every image. The bulk image resizer then downloads each result with its new dimensions shown.
This is faster than changing each picture separately for a shared upload requirement.
Image resizer for Windows and the browser
The tool runs in a modern browser, so an image resizer for Windows needs no installation. It also works on macOS, ChromeOS and mobile devices.
Unlike a photo resizer app, the page asks for no storage permissions beyond the files you choose.
Image resizer without losing quality
Reducing dimensions removes pixels but should not add distortion. Keep ratio is the safest choice when the original proportions must remain intact.
Enlarging cannot invent real detail, so avoid upscaling far beyond the source size.
Picture resizer and resize file workflows
Picture resizer, image size converter and resize file searches describe the same task: changing pixel dimensions while controlling proportions and output format.
Three fixes that solve most problems
- The image looks stretched. Use Keep ratio or Crop to fill instead of Exact size.
- The subject was cropped out. Keep ratio preserves the full frame; Crop to fill removes edges to meet both dimensions.
- The file is still too large. Smaller pixel dimensions help, but an exact KB target belongs in the Image Compressor.
Same tool, many names
No matter how you word it, this page is the answer. One quick image resizer that doesn't waste your time or data, but instead of dozens of skinny copies lying around a site. You'll find it bookmarked under whichever names you use:
Yes — no signup, no watermark, no daily paywall. It will be here, unchanged and unmetered, next semester too.
One page per job is a deliberate choice. The alternative — a dozen near-identical pages, with one phrasing per page — is an SEO standard, which delivers precisely the thin interchangeable results that makes finding a simple tool so frustrating. We prefer this one to be the good one — faster, more complete, less limiting, and worth bookmarking. Once it earns the bookmark, the phrasing you arrived by cease to be important.
That is also why the navigation above links to full tool names rather than clever labels: when the next task appears, you should be able to find the right page by reading, not by guessing. All the collection is made to be navigated by a busy person who has never seen it before — which, on a deadline, is all of us.
Image Resizer FAQ
Type in both the width and height above and choose “Exact size” or “Crop to fill”. Exact size uses the numbers you typed and may stretch the picture while “crop to fill” keeps the pic in proportion. Almost always “crop to fill” looks better.
Leave the Keep aspect ratio mode selected and fill in one dimension. The other will be calculated so that it matches the picture's aspect ratio so that it will not appear stretched.
You can, but it will not be perfect. It will enlarge pixels that were not captured, and it will appear blurry. Upscaling an image beyond 150% of its original size rarely yields good results, and for print, you should create an image at a larger size rather than upscale an existing image.
400×400 or 500×500 pixels will cover most of your needs, as square crops do not require any additional cropping by services. Use crop to fill to make the rectangular photo into a square one.
Substantially — reducing the image’s width and height by half reduces the number of pixels by a quarter and the file size by about the same. If you also need to hit a specific KB target, feel free to go to our Image Compressor.
No. Resizing happens on canvas inside your browser, so nothing is transmitted and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
